Organic Dog Stew Or, more accurately, the old crock pot. Since Zoe’s departure, <💔> we had Ziggy on a commercial (well researched, great quality) dog food as it comes in small, single serving pouches with accurate calories per serving. It has helped him to lose the weight he needed to in order to live his best life. Gabby is a VERY finicky eater, so we decided since she often snubbed what I cooked for her (WHOOOO cooks for their dogs?!?) we would just try her on the same brand of good, quality food, making it easier should someone be here taking care of them. I didn’t mind the break either, truthfully. Well, both pups have a chronic case of the itchies, ongoing for a while now, with no logical explanation other than a different diet. Ugh. Back to the crockpot and organic, quality ingredients that I know for SURE are the only ones in the food. Jim would often walk in the house, see the crockpot and ask “Our dinner, or the pups?”, a valid question since our stew and the pups are exactly the same ingredients, just in a different form. They get organic, grass fed, ground beef and NO SEASONINGS, garlic or onions (poor pups) but the rest is the same. Organic beef, veggies and brown rice. Simple, healthful and yummy – I just have to watch the portion sizes, especially for “you-know-who” who would eat until he exploded like a cartoon. 💥 Which all leads to “Itchy Pups: Take II”. Yep. Organic Dog Soaps. Betcha’ already saw this coming, right? (if you know me, I’m sure you did). I am eagerly awaiting my Amazon delivery of cute “paw molds” to make this. The price should be right in line with what I already have for soaps as many of the ingredients will be the same. More to come on specifics once I’ve actually done the math (ugh) and made the soap. Shampoo Bars Now, to wrap up this particular tirade, how ‘bout some Shampoo bars – for us humans. Especially the ones who want to cut back on all the wasteful plastics and packaging? Have you tried shampoo bars already? I started reading everything I could find on this the last time I ordered organic shampoo from the company I’ve been buying it from for years. Their prices had increased – significantly. Not the amount they were selling, or the ingredients, or the packaging – only the price had changed. In all fairness, it looks like they were just “keeping up with the Joneses” (apologies to all you Jones peeps out there) but the sudden hike in price was a wee bit staggering to me. (I am currently not offering vanilla bean anything due to the shortage and ridiculous price of the beans – not worth it to me with not enough of a demand). Anywho, I didn’t want to PAY that much and decided that we would just MAKE OUR OWN (hubs is not an easy one to on-board with certain things, even though he washed his hair with a plain old commercial soap bar all those years in the navy. Go figure) I made a small batch to try out before offering for sale. I also read that some people may need to give it an “adjustment time”, especially for those who use “regular commercial shampoo”. Since I’ve been using a particular organic product for a long time now, I’m hoping the adjustment isn’t a big deal. I’ll let y’all know in a week or so once I’ve had time to decide. They are pretty soft still, but won’t need the 6-8 week curing time since they are “hot processed” and the chemical process has already happened. I like to still give HP time to “cure” though, as it helps to make it a harder bar, therefore lasting longer. Frugality is a positive trait, yes? 😎Now, it is a dark and stormy day…more like drizzly and overcast but still, a good day to have the pups cuddled with me on the couch while I draw out some label designs for the new soaps. To all the wonderful people who have been supporting me, again – THANK YOU! 😍 <insert clapping hands> I can’t do this “Soap Empire” (HA! Nicole 💖) without you all. Remember: positive feedback and constructive criticism IS welcomed - and appreciated. Really, despite what I may spew or how my face reacts. I NEED YOUR FEEDBACK. 🤗 https://www.jwkorganics.com/contact.html#/

I love how you are making your own shampoo bars as an alternative.
