As promised (maybe threatened?), here is my take on all things essential oils. REAL essential oils. Not those adulterated, chemically laden “essential oils” that are sold in many a big box or convenience store, but high quality, concentrated, pure oils that are extracted from plants. “Essential oils are obtained through distillation (via steam and/or water) or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing.” The way these oils are made is very important, as essential oils obtained through chemical processes are not considered true essential oils. The main use is for aromatherapy. There are many EO’s that are proven helpful with relaxation, including, most commonly, lavender and frankincense. Peppermint is useful in helping with focus and often used to relieve headaches. Lemon can aid in digestion and mood, and so on, and so on, for the list is seemingly endless. Many western practitioners are not adopters of the practical and healthful benefits of these EO’s, but they have been used for centuries in many cultures with huge success and popularity. I, for one, am a believer in their benefits. I am NOT a health professional, by any means, but a simple human who has first hand experience with how EO’s have been helpful to ME and many of my friends and family. It’s why I’m writing this blurb – to share with others who may not have heard of, or tried, a more holistic approach to enhance their health. All that being said, your source is of the utmost importance. Purity. Quality. Reputation. I am not going to expound on this here, at this time, but I did quite a bit of reading and research before “jumping into” this pool (about 18 months). All I can advise is: DO NOT just buy any old “essential oil” off the shelf from the department store you’re currently perusing and believe that it will be helpful. It may, in fact, be harmful and contain added chemicals that will only add to your woes. For now, I’m just going to say that I use EO’s extensively, and have been for over 7 years. I diffuse them (reed diffusers in many rooms instead of candles or “air fresheners” that are commercially available – and add to the toxins in your bodies via breathing in the airborne chemicals 🤢 – YUK!). I also have diffused a mixture to help with a sinus infection – I used to get them OFTEN but no longer, thankfully. I used holistic means for the last few rounds of illness 🤧 I experienced with complete success. Prevention is key though. Better to care for yourself than to try and be cured, and most of what ails us IS preventable. I use them for laundry 🧦 on wool dryer balls, although I know that most of my neighbors do not, judging by the dryer sheet scent wafting through the air when we walk the pups. P and U 🤮! Having dumped all the chemicals🧪years ago I’m probably extremely sensitive to the scent of them but it’s truly overwhelming to me now. I use them in most of the creams I make and some of the soaps. (The Nutra Cream I offer is a miraculous concoction for sure. Not just for the astounding moisturizing it offers, but I use it on psoriatic outbreaks as well with complete success. I have more “anecdotal” tales of just how incredible it is, but again, I am NOT a health professional and make NO CLAIMS as such). I will not use fragrance oils for all the reasons I’ve already stated – they are chemically laden and horrible for your health. They are also MUCH less expensive, and therefore, what you find in most all commercially available products. Just a smell. NO health benefits, and possibly hormone disruption, allergic reactions, headaches that linger, and (QUITE possibly) MUCH worse. Many people just accept the ever present feeling of malaise or just “being under the weather” that comes with a constant barrage of chemicals from SO many sources today. Food, health and beauty aids, air “fresheners”, sizing in clothing, etc, etc, ETC. Chemicals are EVERYWHERE and it’s difficult to avoid them. It’s also WORTH it to avoid them wherever you can. So, read, research for yourself, and then, decide what is best for your own health and for those you love. You may be surprised at what you find and how easy it is to just make small changes as you go. It’s totally worth it – and so are you. 🧡 Happy EVERY day, y’all. 😎
